Off to Alaska!

It’s been over a month since I left my job for “Retirement Practice”. After lots of dawdling over house projects, watching Eurocup and sleeping in, Susannah and I are hitting the road for a while. Got one way tickets to Fairbanks for $80 each! We are taking our time and working our way back to Portland. Sus needs to fly back in 10 days but I will be taking the slow road

This is the view flying up
The riverfront in Fairbanks with Jorge. He moved here from Puerto Rico in 84?
Sven’s Hostel
9pm. Sun goes down 11:30
A pretty nice place if you book way ahead

… or you plan late and take what you can get.

Sights around Fairbanks

Rolligon. The tires are all at super low pressure so it can roll over the tundra.

North Pole Alaska.

A fading tourist trap

What’s this? A classic rendition of Frosty the Snowman appearing to the Inuit children? Eat your heart out Joseph Smith

I remember you did that. There’s too much light in the summer. We will have to come back in winter…but I’m not a fan of being cold 🙂
