Last day in Samara

Susannah already took a flight out this morning for Thessaloniki Greece. I’m here for one last game. Colombia vs Senegal. Colombia needs a win to go through but Senegal is incredibly athletic. They don’t get tired

I’ll be catching a 6 AM flight out to meet Susannah and I’m ready to move along. Russia has exceeded in every way. The World Cup has been well organized. We have always felt safe. While Russians aren’t always the friendliest people, the good ones were genuinely interested in meeting us and making the cup go smoothly, and at worst they were grudgingly helpful when we needed it.

Here are a few Samara pics. I’ll post more after the game if I can. The first 2 are the beach on the Volga river. In the summer it’s packed like any other beach with kids playing, volleyball nets, and pale Russians getting glowing red sunburns. In the winter, the Volga freezes and they drive trucks on it.

The flags for tonight’s game!

And we’re still cute!
