First Game!

This post is going to be a little tough. We are in Kazan and at least in this part of the city there is only 3G! To get on WI-FI at a cafe they send a confirmation code to your phone. But it has to be a Russian number. Wishing I had unlocked this phone! Pics may be later…

Anyway, finally watching our first match, Iran vs Spain. I had expected lots of Spanish people but this crowd is 90% Iranian and cheering like crazy. I came to cheer for Spain but I got swept in to the crowd’s emotions.

This is the view from our AirBnb

Iranians are some of the friendliest fans we have met! Smiling, drinking beer, posing for pictures with the other teams fans. I wish I had gotten a picture of the man holding a sign “The Iranian people want peace”

Don’t you be talking about my Timbers like that :). Portland stadium seems louder and the TA bring in drums and real horns. People here brought in all kinds of plastic horn contraptions. And it wasn’t just the TA cheering their loudest It was every single person

I’m going to retract this a little. We saw Colombia vs Poland Sunday and the Colombians were so loud they blew the roof off. It was deafening and they won
